Said the following about Peter Catton:

“I am nominating Peter for his continuous excellent customer service, providing first class IT support to Freightliner’s Euston Regional Head Office and playing a pivotal role in the implementation of a new business-wide finance system as well as the IT requirements for Freightliner’s head office relocation.

Peter joined Freightliner as a clerical officer in 1991, taking up the role of Systems Support Manager in 1996. Since then, Peter has been a joy to work with; he never complains, despite the historical lack of investment in IT infrastructure which only serves to make his role even more difficult.

In addition to his demanding day job, Peter also provided excellent support to the Financial and Operational Systems Project Manager on the implementation of a significant project to migrate Freightliner to a new finance system – Great Plains. Peter’s work on the interfaces and transition of data during the cutover went off without any problems, another example of his excellent all round contribution.

He is also the main point of contact for any Great Plains enquiries/issues since roll-out, responding and providing solutions efficiently and effectively.

Peter has also played a key role in the forthcoming relocation of Freightliner’s head office providing advice and guidance on the new building’s AV and IT solution, researching new AV equipment and attending meetings/ presentations on potential IT solutions, liaising with BT to ensure all services will be running to the new location, supporting the archiving/ storage solution by creating a new drive on the system, and assisting with the procurement of the removals company and the decommissioning of existing IT equipment and commissioning of new IT equipment.

Peter is always the first one to arrive in the morning and the last one to leave in the evening which is testament to the dedicated and excellent service he provides to Freightliner’s head office colleagues.

Freightliner’s HR director said: “Peter is always available to deal with ad-hoc queries and solve IT problems irrespective of the nature of the problem. The turnaround is always quick and service always professional.”“
