Said the following about Paul Tyres:

“Paul joined Bridgeway as a Graduate Engineer/Geologist in 2013 and prior to joining Bridgeway Paul spent a couple of years in countries such as Cameroon, Guinea and Liberia supervising mineral exploration. Since joining the Site & Ground Investigation Department at Bridgeway Paul has quickly learnt and used new skills and aligned with a ‘can do’ attitude has developed into a highly capable Engineer. This has subsequently led to being recently promoted to Assistant Engineer.

Initially Paul’s duties started with on site logging and overseeing of SI/GI works under the supervision of experienced Team Leaders and safety staff. He quickly learnt what was required from a technical point of view whilst developing a clear understanding of what was required to deliver a quality investigation in a safe manner in the demanding rail environment.

As his confidence and knowledge grew so did his roles and responsibilities on site. From logging and overseeing small scale site and ground investigations he progressed to co-ordinating, briefing multiple crews and delivering a large and complex ground investigation for a re-signalling scheme. Through this he has developed a cool, calm and confident manner when dealing with crews, Clients and other stakeholders.

The next stage of Paul’s development was the successful completion of the Controller of Site Safety (COSS) course. This allowed Paul to manage the crews and works, both technically and take on board the responsibility for theirs and his safety. This can be no small undertaking in some instances and it is a responsibility that Paul has embraced.

The COSS course has been a springboard for Paul as the most recent stage in his development has been to successfully plan and project manage a number of SI/GI projects for Clients. The more detailed knowledge of the Safe System of Work Hierarchy and overall appreciation obtained from the COSS course combined with his technical knowledge of the tasks to be undertaken has of course proven to be a winning combination.

We believe Paul has a bright future in the rail industry and he is gaining a reputation for delivering a safe and quality product even in the most trying of circumstances.

I have no hesitation in recommending Paul for the award of Graduate of the Year and feel confident that his nomination will be fully supported, not only by those of us within Bridgeway Consulting, but also by the many Clients and other Rail Industry staff he has come into contact with over the past couple of years.“
