“Jorge joined Network Rail in September 2015 as part of the acclaimed 'Star Track Scheme'. Since then he has been a valuable member of the Track Design Group (TDG).
Jorge is currently studying a part-time Railway Engineering Foundation Degree at Sheffield Hallam University. He manages to keep on top of all of his university work as well as being a productive member of the TDG.
Jorge has contributed to the completion of numerous projects, one example is a GRIP 3 line speed improvement project, where he used the engineering skills he's gained so far, including 3rd way analysis, to design approximately 40 miles of track to a good quality that was compliant and encompassed best practice.
Jorge has also created a few useful tools for the whole TDG nationwide, for example he created an excel tool to assist track designers design switches and crossings (S&C) by showing a number of critical dimensions for every standard S&C unit.
Jorge is a very passionate person with a constant smile on his face, he is never hesitant to help anyone and his enthusiasm for continuous personal development is extraordinary.“
