Said the following about Paul Lyons:

“In a railway career spanning nearly twenty years, Paul Lyons has brought endless amounts of joy and laughter to both colleagues and customers using Britain's railway.

First joining in 1997, Paul quickly developed a passion for the history of our railways and loved to share historical facts he had researched with our customers. Combined with sharing history with others, Paul is always keen to make sure every person passing through our stations has the very best experience and will want to return time and time again.

It was this passion for promoting outstanding customer experience that saw Paul transfer to London Euston then Kings Cross stations after his initial stint at Glasgow Central, where he went on to perform the role of Duty Manager. During this time Paul managed a wide range of operational incidents whilst further developing his knowledge of our railways.

It was after a successful stint at these major London stations that Paul returned to Glasgow Central where he continued to wow station users with his wealth of historical knowledge about the station, as well as his hugely positive can do attitude.

Keen to learn more, Paul temporarily left Central station to work in Network Rail Scotland's route performance team, before returning to Central station where Paul resumed his customer service role, whilst also working on a life long ambition to formally introduce station tours at Glasgow Central station.

In 2014, that ambition became a reality for Paul as the first of what has now reached thousands of visitors, took part in Central Station's brand new tours programme led by Paul Lyons himself. Since launching tours in November 2014, Paul has welcomed over 10,000 visitors to Central and amazed so many that have taken part with his wealth of knowledge around both the history of Glasgow and our railway.

The feedback around Paul's approach has been hugely positive with Glasgow Central tours recently being named #1 of 56 tours and activities in the entire of Glasgow on tripadvisor.

Throughout the reviews left on tripadvisor, there is one recurring theme and that is very much around Paul's passion and enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge and understanding about all things railway with others.

Paul is an asset to the industry and is remembered well by so many that have met Paul over the years, having achieved so very much during an exciting career and having put smiles on the faces of so many people.“
