Nominations for Rail Manager of the Year

Paul Moore

Said the following about Pam Williams:

“Pam Williams is an excellent Station Manager who always goes the extra mile to help her staff at Liverpool Limes Street Station.

This front line Customer Services Station Manager always puts her staff and the customer first.

There was a major event in Liverpool between 23rd - 26th May 2015, the event was celebrating 175 years of Cunard shipping, this culminated in the 3 Queens arriving at the River Mersey in Liverpool together, for the first time. This unprecedented celebration generated a substantial increase in customers to Lime Street Station. During the event Pam arranged additional staff cover and ensured all members of the team were briefed ahead of their shift, thereby ensuring communication was of paramount importance, this enabled the team to deliver correct and up to date information to our customers. Due to the unusually hot weather Pam arranged for bottled water to be distributed to our customers.

On another occasion a young man fainted and Pam looked after this customer and his friends, Pam also honoured their tickets on an alternative train as they had missed their booked service. The customer had been on a stag party the night before and subsequently was suffering with a hang over, he was very upset and he had fainted; Pam's response was we all need help from time to time and it's our job to help our customers.

We have had a number of staff at Liverpool Lime Street who have been long term sick. With Pam's help and support and they have resumed to full safety Critical duties which is an outstanding credit to her belief in the welfare of her front line team.

Pam is very keen to run a safe and punctual railway and is not the typical Station Manager, as she arrives at work very early in the morning and leaves very late. Pam's phone is always on to give her front line Team Leaders help and advice when required, Pam is a credit to the Rail Industry and an inspiration to both the Northern Rail Management Team and her front line team at Liverpool Lime Street Station.“
