“The Network Rail operations team, and the maintenance team based at Westbourne Park are responsible for the part of the Western Route that Heathrow Express runs on (0-12 miles from Paddington). In the last 12 months Heathrow Express's right time performance has improved significantly, thanks to an improved focus on the Paddington to Heathrow part of the route by this team.
Heathrow Express has been achieving right time figures of up to 90% in the last few months. That's while operating on a route that's been heavily disrupted by engineering works, and on one that poses enough problems on a business-as-usual basis due to its age. It's a great achievement and one we couldn't do without the help of this Network Rail team.
The number of track circuit failures and points failures have reduced significantly because of the work put in by Network Rail's delivery team. This includes the operations and maintenance teams under the leadership of route director Mark Langman, who has brought real focus to this area.
At Heathrow Express, we feel this is a great example of a train operating company and the infrastructure owners working well together to offer rail passengers the best service possible every day.
