Sean Harris

Said the following about Neil Gob:

“I am nominating Neil Gob, an occupational health nurse for the Kent MFF Project. He has been with the project for more than a year and it clearly changed the way health and well-being is being promoted at the project. He has set up an occupational health clinic based in Tonbridge catering for everyone, including sub-contractors to have a facility where they could avail medicals, treatment and advise, health promotion and education , stress related issues and mental health advice, drug and alcohol testing, smoking cessation service and an open clinic which runs every Friday.

I think he deserves the recognition to the fact that he has been working so hard in promoting health and well-being across the project. SEMFF project consist of different sites usually more than 20 sites which he visits as much as possible and offer Mini Health Checks (Know your Numbers – Cholesterol, Sugar levels, BMI, Blood Pressure and heart rate checks) as this is vital to the workers. A lot of workers states that they don’t have time going to their GP’s just to have a health check. What Neil is offering is a good and convenient way of knowing health numbers and to identify any ongoing health problems, in which after can be referred to a GP.

• Neil made a 99-100% compliant in regards to medicals with all Costain employees and sub-contractors, including up to date drug and alcohol test.

• He led the way towards health campaigns every month which he believe that health campaigns should have a “Fun” factor “ and easy to understand e.g lung Olympics for smoking awareness, beer goggles challenge for alcohol awareness, initiate having a smoking cessation service in the project, invited guest from charitable institutions like British Heart Foundation, Samaritans, NHS sexual health services

• Innovated the One stop shop health board, the health and well-being suggestion box, the one stop shop Health QR codes

• Neil was featured in the Southern Shields Newspaper for Rail. He also led the way towards the Bronze status for Costains health and maturity Matrix

To be fair Neil is just an all round amazing guy that would do anything for anyone, even if it means going out of his way to do so.“

“Neil has been instrumental in raising health awareness on the MFF. . He issues monthly health reports and is continual driving forward healthy work/lifestyle. He is always available for discussions and health checks. On his advice I have personally visited my GP and am now undergoing treatment and been referred to a consultant at my local hospital. He carries out health checks throughout the framework. The checks carried out have recognised several cases of members of site teams being a risk to themselves and the team around them by not being fit to carry out their tasks at the time they presented themselves for their work tasks. Thus preventing possible accidents.“
