Said the following about Jamie Bust:

“Jamie joined Bridgeway in 2010 and was initially employed as a HSM (now named Possession Assistant) working within the East Midlands Possession Management Team from where he progressed to working with the Site & Ground Investigation Department. This was Jamie’s first job within the rail industry and a completely new area having come from a Fabrication and then Bricklaying background.

As the SI/GI Department has grown and developed over the past 6 years so has Jamie’s skills and knowledge from both safety and technical aspects. Jamie was quickly identified as having great potential due to his manner and his ability to learn new tasks.

Jamie is now a Team Leader undertaking, controlling and supervising a variety of tasks including window sampling drilling, concrete & brick coring, automatic ballast sampling, dynamic probing and other intrusive and non-intrusive investigations on the infrastructure. Jamie has the ability to focus on several things at once and complete those all exceptionally well. This skill when working in the railway environment is one of the best if not the best skill to have. In addition to his technical works, Jamie undertakes safety critical duties and is a highly competent Safe Work Leader 2, Engineering Supervisor, Safe Work Leader 1, Controller of Site Safety, Protection Controller, Look Out and Level Crossing Attendant.

His unassuming, calm and yet confident manner instils a sense of confidence with Clients, work colleagues and Company Management and Jamie is known as a ‘safe pair of hands’ when it comes to delivering works both technically and safely. Jamie regularly mentors new COSS’s as well as teaching new members of the team how to safely and competently use the large variety of equipment needed for SI & GI.

Clients will ask that Jamie be allocated to their works as he brings with him the technical and safety knowledge to deliver their work and in 2014 Jamie won an award from one of our Clients for a Close Call he submitted.

Outside of work Jamie spends his time with his partner and they are both kept busy with their four children.

I have no hesitation in nominating Jamie Bust for Rail Safety Person of the Year as his work ethic and standard of delivery are second to none.“
