Nominations for Station Staff of the Year

Albert McDonald

Said the following about Micheal Atherton:

“I would like to nominate my colleague [and lucky to call him my friend] Micheal Atherton. Mike is one of those infectious people he's loved by managers staff and the public who he deals with on a day to day basis.

Mike's start time is 6am but you would find him in at 05.30am just to make sure his station is clean safe and a pleasant environment for when his customers start arriving. He has had to deal with all pressures of the job [like all station staff who ever they work for] and does it with a smile, he is always alert and ready for any problem he might face, one night when mike was on his late shift he was informed that a customer was arriving at his station mike sprung into action the person was in a wheelchair he met her at the train helped her into his waiting room, the lady had lost her purse mike calmed her phoned for a taxi and paid the fare for her, we are privileged to work alongside him and he is a valuable member of our company“

Paul McNamara

Said the following about Micheal Atherton:

“I am a GPR and I my job is to cover the stations when static staff are off. I was on a late shift one night when I accidentally locked my self out. I phoned Michael and he told me not to worry he would phone control. He then drove to my station with a spare key to let me back in.

Nothing is to big and when he is on shift you know he is there for you.

I've known Mike Atherton for four years and have to agree with the above, he is a dedicated member of our team and respected by all.“
