“Michael is always looking for ways to make the railway more efficient or safer. He is known as "captain close call" in the team as he never fails to find something that can be made more safe, and more often than not rectifies it there and then, or speaks to the person that can rectify it.
Michael is always looking for ways to improve his competence and those of others in the team; though he is not a manager he requested that he manage our year in industry student to practice his management skills under supervision, and has spent hours helping our student achieve his targets, which has then benefited the team.
Michael is always keen to represent the signalling profession and raise its profile, and in that capacity has demonstrated the company's national asset information knowledge to the ORR.
Because Michael is always keen to improve the processes we use or raise team competence he has volunteered to research and lead weekly safety discussions within the team, that have then changed the way we do things for the better.
Michael has been nominated for this award by his line manager.“
