Said the following about May-Ann Lew:

“Between Monday 9th October and Sunday 15th October Railweek, the largest pan-industry initiative to promote the UK Rail Industry, will take place. Launched last year, the first Rail Week say more than 70 companies and organisations take part to deliver over 150 events across the country. This year’s event looks to build on this, bringing the rail industry in all its guises closer to schools, teachers, career advisors and students. The dedicated week of activity will help address the skills shortage in rail-related roles and inspire a generation of young people through a series of events, visits and talks.

Organising RailWeek is a daunting task. Despite this, May-Ann Lew willingly stepped forward to take on this role and set herself the goal of making the event even bigger and more ambitious than the first. Over the past five months May-Ann has lived and breathed Rail Week; forming and leading a team of dedicated volunteers, identifying and securing funding for the event, engaging companies to take part and developing a comprehensive communications strategy to shine a light on the rail industry and the opportunities within it.

Thanks to May-Ann’s tireless efforts, Rail Week 2018 is set to be an incredible event, showcasing the best of what the industry has to offer. What makes May-Ann’s contribution to this event and the industry so impressive is that she has taken on this role voluntary, alongside a demanding day job working as a Project Engineer. This is also one of a number of contributions May-Ann has made to promoting careers in Rail and addressing the ongoing skill and diversity gaps. May-Ann has been an active member of YRP for years and was a driving force in developing and leading the YRP Ambassador programme.“
