The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Melanie Foster

Said the following about London Bridge Station Team:

“The London Bridge Station team are deserving of the Rail Team of the Year Award for their dedication and commitment to our passengers during a disrupted year, as a result of the ongoing Thameslink Programme. While the programme will bring long-term benefits to passengers and staff alike, the significant interim period until 2018 continues to pose numerous challenges.

The team have persistently been up against disruption out of their control and have had to be on the frontline, facing often rightly disgruntled passengers and public scrutiny. However, the entire team, from the Station Manager to each Customer Service Assistant including the excellent agency staff at the station, should be applauded for maintaining such professionalism and continued good attitude throughout these difficult circumstances. This is also alongside complex on goings behind the scenes, including accommodation moves affecting their workplace, getting to grips with regularly changing station plans and a political spotlight over the station, particularly over the last year.

The team are a credit to Network Rail and have persevered despite the often challenging positions they have found themselves in. Their day to day support of the project and value they offer to passengers and this award would ensure a well-deserved focus and thank you to the staff that keep major London stations like London Bridge running in the most testing of times.“
