Nominations for Samaritans Lifesaver Award

Sally Ralston

Said the following about Lee Edwards:

“On December 2014, approximately 08.33am at the Station, Lee carried out a lifesaving intervention when a young lady who had been out drinking the night before showed signs of distress. The young lady was showing signs of suicidal tendencies. She was talking about her daughter and that she would be better off without her and she would jump in front of the next train. Lee immediately guided the lady from the platform and into our booking hall area away from danger.

Lee then made the relevant calls to British Transport Police and Security. Lee then spoke to her and calmed her down. More importantly, he listened to her until help arrived. Lee has received special training from the Samaritans and felt he had the confidence necessary to approach this lady and the knowledge required to avert a completely different scenario. He took her away from a dangerous environment and supported her in a calm and professional manner. We are very proud of Lee's actions and he certainly did safe this ladies life.“

Said the following about Lee Edwards:

“Lee Edwards put his Samaritan training skills to good us on a morning in December 2014. Approximately 8:30 Lee noticed a young 20 year old Lady showing signs of distress and saying she would be better off throwing herself in front of a train. She also said her young daughter would be better off with her dead. Lee calmed the young lady down by lending her a sympathetic ear Lee also made the relevant calls to the British transport police and security. Lee led the young lady to a point of safety in the booking hall and stayed with her keeping her clam by talking and listing to her until help arrived. Lee acted in clam and professional manner and in doing so saved this young ladies life.“
