The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Mike Cox

Said the following about Land Sheriffs Norwich ASB Team:

“I would like to nominate the Land Sheriffs Norwich ASB Team Tony Hall & Ross Harrison for this award.

This team has dealt with 8 separate interventions while working the station and surrounding areas since the start of the year which in itself is fantastic work alone.

The team has been able to put their MSC training to full effect identify many vulnerable people during their hour of need and get them away from the station platforms to a place of safety.

On one occasion a certain individual posed a serious threat to themselves and wanted to end it all and the team managed to talk the person away from the area until BTP arrived who took them away for further assessment, the following day the same person came back to follow through what he tried the previous evening as the medical team let them out again.

The team quickly identified the person again and got talking to them, fully understanding the seriousness of the situation again reported the issue to BTP to attend while getting the male to a position of safety.

Again the male was taken back to the hospital to be assessed.

This team gets so much praise from GA & Station staff for all the hard work they do dealing with the many incidents at the station which includes County Lines Issues, youths with weapons & knives, ASB Issues plus the rise in vulnerable and suicidal people.

This team has dealt with these incidents in the most professional manner showing courtesy to all people, I feel they truly deserve the honour of the Team of the Year Award.“

We've experienced a high level of antisocial behaviour in Norwich but their presence, passion and determination to illuminate any unsafe acts at the station have proven to be very successful.
