Said the following about Josh Chegwin:

“TSO's Josh Chegwin & his colleague at the time Francis Callaway were on board a Northern service arriving at the station. As the service arrived on the platform both officers were met with panic and dismay from members of the public as loud and distressing screams could be heard coming from the opposite platform. With concern now growing for the situation, both officers raced across the station, up the stairs and back down onto the opposite platform to find a member of the public struggling to contain a young female. After only being present for seconds it's become apparent to Francis and Josh that the young female has come to the station to end her life after escaping from a local hospital. The female was in an uncontrollable state and attempting to access the live track. TSO's then took control of the incident from the female public member with TSO Chegwin having no choice but to physically restrain the vulnerable individual whilst TSO Callaway contacted the emergency services the request Police and an Ambulance. Both officers attempted to calm the female down but to no avail with the female acting in an erratic manner including forcefully banging her head off the floor and attempting to head-butt the walls situated on the platform. Both officers, despite the distressing nature of the incident involving such a young female, held onto her and displayed great compassion to reassure her throughout the ordeal that help was on the way and that they wouldn't let any harm come to her. This continued for approximately 10-15 minutes as members of the public watched on in horror prior to the emergency services arriving and being able to take control of the situation. Both officers were thanked for their heroics and for springing into action and managing to keep the female safe despite her initial intentions.

Further positive feedback and praises were received on 30th June from senior management within Northern Trains who thanked them for their approach and determination to ensure the best possible outcome could be achieved in an extremely challenging and mentally draining situation. Truly heroic in every sense of the word and something which stands out to me as one of the most selfless and courageous acts I've seen in all my time on the contract.“
