Nominations for Customer Service Award

Charlotte Touhey

Said the following about John Cliff:

“John is a member of booking office staff at Liverpool Lime Street who always has a smile on his face and makes customers feel like a friend. I often receive praise for John’s excellent way with customers, including the most recent time which was a lady who wrote in to thank John for assisting her in getting to the hospital to visit her daughter who was unwell. I have also observed customers purchase chocolate for John as a thanks for all his help. I was surprised when I saw this and John informed me it happens quite a lot, which highlighted to me John’s humble ways that he does not deliver this customer service to impress managers but he does it because he truly cares for the customers. John is a member of booking office staff but also has trained on the gateline to support his team members. He’s remains positive on every shift he is given and never complains when he (quite often) ends up on the challenging Friday and Saturday late shifts. John has continued to demonstrate the railway in a positive light through the extremely busy times that Eurovision has brought on to the station. I’d like to recognise John’s hard work and positivity that he brings to the station.“

Lorraine Mills

Said the following about John Cliff:

“I work alongside John in the booking office. If you know John you know he is genuine and a laugh to work with. His humour brushes off you and the customer. They leave the ticket office laughing and usually come back with a bar of chocolate or biscuits to share.“

Robert Kelly

Said the following about John Cliff:

“I have worked with John for many years and he always brings a smile to all his colleagues’ faces as well as the customers. He has a fantastic personality of which shines on the customers as he tries to help them with their queries. Customers come into the booking office when the trains are cancelled, delayed etc. and they get a little frustrated and angry but John turns on his humour and charm and I guarantee they go out not only satisfied with Johns efforts but have a smile on their face. And they always come back with a smile on their faces the next time they visit too. He can also speak a little bit of foreign languages of which is really good when dealing with all the different people and cultures he goes beyond his duty to help out and that’s why I nominate John Cliff.“
