Said the following about Jay Thompson:

“Jay as we all know is very passionate about safety and GA.

He has on numerous occasions offered his support on areas relating to performance issues in the business which is not his area such as assisting to hold a Risk Workshop with me earlier in the year on Ill Passenger incidents and pushing forward station mitigation works for T&V issues.

It doesn't just stop there with this chap who never sleeps, he is always there in the thick of it, earlier this year whilst I was 2nd line on call the signalling system went down at Shenfield and passengers on the Southminster couldn't get home. It happened around 1830 when most people are at home after a long day at work. I was busy managing the issue as I was 2nd line on call and Jay (who was not on call) phoned to offer support and essentially became my eyes and ears at Shenfield whilst I was monitoring trains leaving Shenfield via CCF Jay would advise the number of passengers on the train so I could inform my other colleague who was 1st line and positioned further down the branch trying to manage all the customers trying to get on buses to Southminster. This went on until midnight by which point Jay had moved on to assist my 1st line colleague in moving any last remaining customers trying to get towards Southminster. He then phoned me the following day to thank me for all my hard work in managing the situation which was not only was very nice of him but very selfless to say the least he had given up all his time to help get customers home. He's a true hero and whilst part of the Director team it's probably expected from most that he should do these things he does it time after time after time and deserves to get some credit even if he is a Director - Thanks you Mr Thompson for being so inspiring and selfless!!!“
