Said the following about Jason Cairns:

“In the realm of rail safety, few have displayed as much commitment, dedication, and foresight as Jason. Throughout the year, he has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, showcasing an unwavering commitment to safety.

His meticulous attention to detail has ensured that every rail is adequately lubricated, significantly reducing the potential for wear and tear, and thereby ensuring the safe passage of trains.

What sets Jason apart is his innovative approach to safety. Recognising the inherent risks faced by staff, he pioneered the creation of a comprehensive SBSI plan, ensuring that all 217 lubricators are maintained to the highest standard every 13 weeks.

This rigorous maintenance schedule is a testament to his proactive approach to safety, ensuring that every lubricator in the Middlesbrough area functions flawlessly.

But Jason's contributions don't stop there. He has been instrumental in ensuring correct and adequate access for staff maintenance. This strategic move has not only enhanced the quality of maintenance but has also played a pivotal role in safeguarding our staff from potential hazards. The results speak for themselves - with every lubricator operating perfectly, we've seen a marked improvement in safety, virtually eliminating the risk of derailments (due to insufficient grease)

In conclusion, Jason's relentless pursuit of excellence in safety, combined with his innovative strategies and attention to detail, make him the ideal candidate for the Safety Person of the Year Award. His contributions have created a safer work environment for all and have set a gold standard for safety practices in the rail industry. It is with great pride and utmost confidence that we nominate Jason for this prestigious award.“
