Sam Newman

Said the following about Jane Murray:

“Jane is very passionate about promoting diversity within rail and empowers her colleagues every single day.

Jane frequently shares in-depth insights from the schemes she has been part of, so that others learn can from them and feel encouraged to participate. These include the Women Ahead and 30% Club, which are cross-industry mentoring initiatives aimed at supporting the development of women in rail, the cross-fertilisation of ideas and the promotion of diversity.

Jane is an extremely committed mentee and her contributions will really help to shape the industry and have a positive, lasting impact on its future.

Jane’s infectious and bubbly personality is what makes the industry a great place to work!“

Euan Hilton

Said the following about Jane Murray:

““What a manager Jane is! She constantly strives for the best for her stations, staff and customers. Even with external influences she manages to achieve great outcomes. Somehow she manages to conjure up projects which deliver great outcomes for the stations. Recently, she has engaged with local schools to create artwork for remote stations on the Cumbrian Coast, installed information panels depicting local landmarks and history at Whitehaven, installed planters that have been created by local apprentices at her stations and the list goes on.

As a recent Station manager she has provided guidance, support and also a listening ear when there have been tricky times or situations. Personally she has supported me through the loss of a parent and even though I was not in her team at the time, she has took it on herself to check on my welfare, ensure the networks I needed were in place and (even though it sounds a small thing) arranged for flowers to be sent which were greatly received by myself and my family.

Her staff also hold Jane in high regard for what she does for them. She makes sure they are looked after, consulted and kept informed in regard to any projects or changes happening at their stations. She has been a great role model for myself in how to engage and treat my team so that we can all strive to improve the service we offer and deliver.

She really is one of the best and really deserves some recognition for the way she looks after her stations and team.““

Glen McPoland-Brown

Said the following about Jane Murray:

“Jane is a passionate, person-oriented manager. She's extremely hard working, has time for each individual staff member and is incredibly personable.

If any staff member has a problem- Jane deals with it as promptly as possible and uses all of her tools available to get a solution for you.

Jane comes across as "mumsy" and she is an incredible person which Northern should be proud to have working for them.“
