Said the following about Jack Slatter:

“Jack Slatter is an Apprentice Electrician who has not only excelled in designing and delivering projects related to electrical power and wiring, but has made a huge contribution towards mechanical design for AC electrification projects. He has been a key member of the AECOM E&P team in Swindon since September 2015. He was selected under the Apprentice Scheme in collaboration with Wiltshire College.

Jack is diligent and proactive in delivering assigned work to him. Alongside working on major Electrification schemes, he has achieved his B-Tech with distinction and is currently progressing towards his HNC and HND qualifications through Wiltshire College. He fully understands the requirements of his NVQ modules and hence makes conscious effort to gain relevant experience. He utilises his time at work efficiently by planning his own workload.

He has been able to put into practise his knowledge and abilities to date on various projects in the S&C Alliance (S&C Alliance is a joint venture of Colas Rail, AECOM and Network Rail for delivering S&C renewals across the south of England and Wales over the next ten years. The framework is worth over £800m). He has already completed 5 electrical power designs as the responsible design engineer ensuring he is demonstrating all the necessary NVQ experience.

Jack has undertaken the outline lighting design for Coventry Platform Extension. The CRE for the project (James Mackintosh) has been very impressed by both his electrical knowledge and his pragmatic approach to the design process. He has been able to demonstrate that he can work independently with minimal input from his peers. Jack researched British and Rail Standards along with Legislation and guidance to determine the correct lighting level. He learnt how to use the lighting software package and successfully produced a compliant lighting design. Furthermore, he has impressed his lead engineers with his site knowledge, being able to identify components and feeding arrangements to a level which is much higher than an apprentice engineer.

Jack has undertaken design for Southampton Signalling Power Supply works for which he has independently been to sites and has obtained the required information whilst following the AECOM safety procedures and lifesaving rules. He has met the relevant projects’ CREs expectations and in some areas has also exceeded them.

Jack has a bright future at AECOM as he continues to gain valuable skills on a variety of projects and will be passing on his knowledge and experiences to others in years to come as he progresses his career as an electrical engineer.“
