Said the following about Graham Phillips:

“Graham has been at the forefront of raising the profile of his grade group at Kirkdale in a very positive and professional manner and for the betterment of all staff at Kirkdale. In doing so he has improved the general safety at the depot which has also made other Shunters aware of this and the benefits of this. Graham will proactively challenge all staff, all functions and contractors, if he feels/sees them behaving in a manner which he considers is not appropriate or safe, this will result in the behaviour being modified. He has been key, in pushing for the role of Leader Shunter to be introduced to his grade group in an attempt to allow all his fellow Shunters the opportunity to progress and develop through the appropriate training the group will receive. His main aim in this is not specifically a personal gain but rather than an improvement to his fellow Shunters and his environment. In his role he is very professional in his appearance and attitude, and is proactive in ensuring all aspects of the Shunters role including equipment and uniform, all orange, is worn and in suitable condition. He will attend functional meetings and discuss various topics in a sensible manner with a view to improving the depot workings. When asked to take a message to his fellow Shunters Graham has shown he can deliver the message and will also ensure this is carried out. This was evident when he had to brief to his colleagues the testing and checking of fire alarms and activations after the recent RC re-organisation at Kirkdale.“
