Thomas Briggs

Said the following about Emma Harrison:

“I have had the pleasure of mentoring Emma through parts of her training and can say that it has been an honour to work with her. I have had the special privilege of watching her develop into the trained professional she is today and commend her in all that she has done to progress into her new promotion role as assistant quantity surveyor; following the successful completion of her commercial management course, which is well deserved.

Emma makes my time in the office fly by. She is kind, hardworking and honest. She is not afraid to ask for help when needed and is always willing to learn new things. She takes on every task with a smile and is always on hand to help anyone who needs it, which, when juggling a demanding job and professional qualification, is a feat in itself.

She truly deserves to be recognised for the amazing efforts she has made.“

Said the following about Emma Harrison:

“I have worked with Emma for over two years and can honestly say that she makes the office a joy to work in. She is friendly, warm and introduces a lively atmosphere to the office; leading the office conversations with style.

I have never seen anyone work as hard and as tirelessly as she does to meet both the demands made by her academic study, for a recognised professional qualification, and her day-to -day job. She frequently prioritises the needs of others before her own and meets deadlines with good humour and a smile. She really can balance the needs of work with the demands of a full family life, including two children; one of whom has special needs.

Her academic marks have been outstanding although she is always humble on receiving all marks and praise. This was even more so on Emma’s recent promotion, following the completion of all of her modules. This promotion was well deserved and given to Emma because of the skills she has gained and the professionalism she has shown over the years.

Emma’s ability to take on the demands of her professional career and home life is remarkable and the fact that she manages it so well is a testament to Emma's attitude and commitment to her work.“

Said the following about Emma Harrison:

“To watch Emma develop through VolkerRail’s distance learning partnership scheme, in commercial management and into the person she is becoming is an honour.

Emma has a warming personality that you cannot help but like and her ability to engage with her team and management is commendable. Emma has the ability to work on multiple tasks for numerous projects, taking pride in everything she works on. Her meticulous attention to detail is brilliant and she always strives for excellence in whatever she does.

Emma is keen to show others that every dream can be attained if you worked hard. Because of this she was invited to present at the inaugural Doncaster High Speed conference twice. Over 200 delegates from the rail industry and local commerce attended. Emma prepared a presentation on the life of a graduate in VolkerRail. This she presented faultlessly, with numerous tweets congratulating her on her great performance.

Emma’s ability to communicate to those around her also led to her invitation to take part in the ground breaking of the National College for High Speed Rail in Doncaster, meeting Terry Morgan, Chair of the Corporate Board for the National College for High Speed Rail and Beth West, Commercial Director for High Speed 2. Both were impressed with her ability to communicate and when Emma expressed her eagerness to engage with the college when opened, they welcomed her invitation; telling her to ‘never stop learning’. Emma reminds us all of this statement every day.

Emma continues to impress me and her fellow workers with her increasing enthusiasm for her role. I have no doubt that she will attain great progress in her career within the commercial team at VolkerRail.“
