“Throughout 2015 the south and east Yorkshire Conductor Team Managers have absolutely excelled in all areas under extremely testing circumstances. For almost the entire 2015 period we found our resources stretched to the limit due to a number of conductors retiring or moving on to pastures new. This resulted in our team of managers working together to deliver a plan to combat this issue, which meant that their workload would not only increase due to conductor competency training, but they suggested that they work their days off to ensure no services were cancelled, often at a detriment to their social lives.
During these extremely testing times they were a credit to Northern Rail, helping to avoid in excess of 150 cancellations. They didn’t do this because they were required to do so, but because they wanted to work as a team and deliver for our customers.
This was against a backdrop of the team also implementing and embedding many new initiatives brought to the business that will hopefully bring about improvements for all of our customer experience.“
