Said the following about Carl Haigh:

“Station colleague Carl is nominated for his efforts during an incident on 8 June 2015. Whilst on duty Carl noticed a lady on platform one, very close to the platform edge attempting to jump off. Immediately Carl calmly went in to speak to the lady to guide her away from the platform edge, which he did successfully, and managed to get her into the square. She appeared again and Carl offered to take her to the bus station to in order to get her home safely, he even phoned her brother who asked for him to look after her until he arrived. The lady was taken into our mess room and given a cup of tea all the while being talked to by Carl until the police, Psychiatric nurse and brother arrived. Carl has been on the suicide awareness course due to a similar incident. This is a great example of turning what could have been a very serious incident affecting many people including customers and train crew into getting someone help and avoiding what could have been a very distressing situation.“
