“I would like to nominate Ben Griffiths, Train Manager for First Great Western based at Worcester.
In May this year Ben was working an empty stock HST from Great Malvern to Worcester when the driver thought he had hit someone and so he brought the train to a stand.
The train stopped in the platform and after Ben had spoken to the driver he went up to the cab to see if he was ok. The driver was asked by control to walk back and see if he could find anything and as Ben did,nt have any passengers to take care of he offered to accompany The driver and they walked back together and found the body.
It was a difficult situation being late at night in a remote part of the network but Ben went above and beyond his duties liaising with the police and control and giving his support to the driver.“
