“During the recent fleet enhancement project the auto couplers and inter-coach jumper cables were to be replaced as they were life expired. Andy was responsible for developing a piece of test equipment and procedure for post testing. Andy developed a test box that would be fixed to the auto-coupler face which in effect replicated a unit being coupled to the train. The test unit then had LED’s as a visual indication that the particular circuit had energised. The test box has also been used as a fault finding tool for coupler faults and train wire faults which in the past would have required two trains to complete. This is an excellent piece of equipment and Andy should take great pride and job satisfaction from this.“
