“Alex is in his first position after completing the graduate engineer scheme, and in that time has exceeded what would be expected of an engineer new to the team.
He has carefully worked with others in the team to improve his knowledge in areas where it was lacking and with humility has seen where he can improve the competence of other experienced engineers, and done that.
Alex has been particularly keen to support year in industry students and graduates on placement, and has quickly taken them under his wing and shared his knowledge with them to show them how interesting railway engineering can be.
Alex has spent hours of self study time enabling him to achieve excellent results in the IRSE exams, as well as many other technical courses that he has passed with very high marks.
Alex has learned how to produce detailed requirements for new projects, and improve the knowledge of others in the team to enable them to do similarly. He has helped the team think strategically introducing safety by design requirements that can now be considered for every project.
His winsome personality mean others are keen to work with him on any project.
Alex has been nominated for this award by his line manager.“
