Said the following about Stuart Steele and Richard Haughey:

“Stuart Steele and Richard Haughey are members of the cleaning team at a Station. They have been involved in two separate incidents where they have provided exceptional assistance to passengers in need.

They were on duty at the station when they received a report of a person who had fallen off a footbridge. Stuart and Richard immediately went to the scene and assessed the situation. They saw that the person was conscious but injured and knew they needed to act quickly. They put coats around the person to keep them warm and talked to them to keep them calm. They also made sure that the area was safe and that other people were not at risk. The emergency services arrived shortly after, and Stuart and Richard stayed with the person until they were taken to hospital.

The second incident occurred a few months later when Stuart and Richard were again on duty at the station when a passenger fell between the platform and a train. The man was in and out of consciousness with a head injury and had lost all feeling in his legs. Stuart and Richard immediately went to the man's aid. They communicated with him and kept him calm while they waited for the emergency services to arrive. They also provided comfort and support to the man's family.

Stuart and Richard's actions in both of these incidents were quick, decisive, and compassionate. They showed great care and concern for the people in need and made a real difference in challenging situations. They were professional and calm throughout the incidents, even though they were very stressful events.

Stuart and Richard are always willing to go the extra mile to help others. They are a valuable asset to Transport for Wales, and we are grateful for their service.

We believe that Stuart and Richard's actions are worthy of recognition, and we hope that you will consider awarding them the Samaritan's Life Saver Award.“
