Said the following about Stewart Hay:

“Stewart has been at the forefront of delivering training and professional advice to some of our key multi million pound critical projects over the last few years within Edinburgh IECC, I feel with little recognition from a company perspective.

An example of the number of key multi million pound projects include :

1) Polmont / Millerhill re control - delivered on time to over 30 of our team. (December 2012)

2) Cowlairs PSB re control - despite a number of numerous project failures was still delivered on time to over 20 operators (November 2013)

3) Haymarket to Inverkeithing signaling enhancements - again despite late delivery of simulation equipment all 49 signallers received quality professional training (May 2015)

4) Borders Rail -on time and on budget to deliver another quality product with over 40 staff receiving professional safe training Programme. (July 2015)

Projects 3 & 4 delivered at the same time over 15 contingent signalers required anywhere between 1 and 10 Days additional training at a pace that suited their competence.

Again Stewart came to the fore and planned this critical training into an already packed time bound, resource hungry schedule. The output was the contingent team were available to operate 7 out of the 9 workstations open over a 12 hour period for any continent services.

Stewart himself was also available during strike days as a floorwalker, a role that would have proven critical in enabling the contingent team to deliver a safe reliable timetable.

Most recently I have asked Stewart to turn his hand to Visualisation boards, which he has done with pride.

OM Central Scotland was the first of the Operations team in Scotland route to go live. The boards along with the unique electronic data info displayed ,holds pride of place as visitors walk into the Signaling Centre operating floor. Its there for all to see including our Signallers who are now more engaged in the visualisation process.

Stewart worked with Gary Colinson our contractor to develop the idea; it’s this critical information that now feeds the AD East boards from an operations perspective.

Stewart has a good teamwork ethic, as well as delivering the training plan has worked well with the POIS, Roster Clerk Local Operations Manager, Delta Rail Engineers and staff. He supported the LOM and Finance Manager through the timeous input of information for recovering Project Training costs and took time to create Signal Box Special instructions for the introduction of Engineering Planning Reminders.

Ultimately the success of his training is evident in the confidence and competence of the staff that he has trained. The good consistent safety record at Edinburgh IECC is not by chance and bears Stewart's hallmark.

For an inexperienced trainer to deliver continual massive projects as noted above despite the challenges he has faced deserves recognition.

I cannot talk highly enough of the efforts and company behaviors Stewart has displayed throughout his time at Edinburgh ,“
