Said the following about Stephen Wardley:

“Stephen received a call from control saying that 1B35 had seen an elderly lady riding off the end of the platform. Stephen made his way towards the driving cab to speak to the driver to make sure he was aware. On arrival to the cab Stephen and the Driver could both see the lady walking in the Cess with her bike. The driver pulled the train up slowly behind her and Stephen informed the signaller of her location and advised was going trackside to get the lady onto the train. As Stephen approached the lady she didn't seem in distress but clearly she was confused. Stephen helped the lady to the train lifted her bike up onto train with the help of the driver and made sure she was safe. Once the lady was on the train the driver informed the signaller and Stephen Informed control. The lady was confused and was unable to communicate clearly only being able to answer Yes and No. She passed some paper work to Stephen and on there he found a telephone number for a male, Stephen called him and also sent a photo and was then confirmed it was the males mom. He explained she had Dementia and wasn't able to communicate. Stephen explained what happened and that arrangements were made for her to be taken to the station and be met by the Ambulance. Stephen then stayed with the lady until they got there and put her in the care of the BTP who were waiting on the platform. I do believe that the actions of both the TM and driver potentially saved this ladies life and would love for their actions to be recognised“
