“Steve is an experienced Director with over 35 years in the global railway industry. He has a strong background in Railway Operations, Business and Operational start-up, Business development, leadership and Project Delivery.
Steve joined British Rail in 1982 and since then has operated and launched railways around the world. His career started with running the BR South West and Wales regions before advising or setting up new railways in the UK, Portugal, Malaysia, South Africa, Egypt and the UAE; these have included both conventional railways and the most advanced ERTMS Level 2 & TM deployment in the world in Abu Dhabi.
With a career as successful as this, across several countries and continents, bridging language barriers and deploying cutting edge systems which today are used as reference systems for others to follow, Steve without a doubt deserves the Lifetime Achievement Award.“
