The RailStaff Awards 2024

Teicia Igho

Said the following about Sharon Hershman:

“I nominated Sharon based on the role she has taken on as part of the focus group team in London City. She has been dedicating her time and efforts to bring the area together by taking on the leadership role in organising training sessions to enhance the CSA diversity and inclusion support for passengers, such as BSL courses to assist staff to better communicate with customers needing additional support. Recently she along with other members of the focus group arranged an international food day where staff members could use the opportunity to try different food from around the world and appreciate the diverse background of the multicultural uniqueness that is London City. There was also a charity event for Cancer Research linked with the festivities so staff could contribute and learn more about what they do.

Sharon is also linked to other inclusive and diverse initiatives within Southeastern Railway such as Women in Rail, which highlights, challenges women may face in the rail industry and supports the improvement and progression of women within the industry.

It would be easier to come to work, do what is required and go home, however, Sharon has chosen to make a difference and is always very humble and grateful for any support that is offered towards her achieving her set goals and this is my reason for her nomination.“

Said the following about Sharon Hershman:

“Sharon is the most amazing, kind empathetic person I know. She has a great personality and gives her time to make others happy.

Sharon is one of my Health & Wellbeing Champions and is always going above and beyond her duties to help staff. Sharon is part of the London City Focus Group and is a great organiser of events.

Sharon can always be relied on as a listening ear. Sharon never rushes anyone who has troubles. Sharon is also part of the Incident Care Team, she always makes time for others.

I hope that Sharon gets the recognition she deserves.“
