Nominations for Rail Manager of the Year

Said the following about Sally-Ann Tedder:

“Sally is the Safety and Environment Performance Manager.

Sally has chaperoned our team through so much change in the last few months; two new software changes; internal and external. Both systems requiring on-going maintenance, learning, training, understanding, planning, consulting and user group introductions. Coupled with an office move at the same time, we really felt we were in capable hands with Sally at the helm.

At the same time I was doing a course and was a Union Rep on two complex cases. Sally was able to work with me and accept flexibility, despite the timings and planning of everything often changing out of our control. She let me work some strange hours and managed a rotation of us in the office where required through any periods of leave or meetings etc.

I was also moving/buying a house and she even managed to accommodate a moving day.

Sally has never lost sight of the bigger picture. She arranged a team member to carry out downloads of some of the data on the old systems so we didn't lose the ability to report some of the key areas.

Sally has contributed to team away days with information and suggestions and interacted with others to look at where improvements can be made. For example, she ascertained where the source of the bulk of our reporting is and improvements that could be made. She answers our constant questions about the new software in relation to how it would affect our reporting and remained supportive of other departments at the same time. This included helping with a team members assistance of an auditing system on behalf of retail when a key member of another department left the company.

Sally works tirelessly and inspires good data quality delivery, we are encouraged to chase up missing reports and key data and look for standards and respond to auditing requirements external to our companies internal requirements. When I have sent emails asking for information and input she is a supportive influence despite any resistance in obtaining information.

Sally has always had time for other companies and TOCS, Network Rail, Customer service, Retail and pretty much anyone whom we can impact/impacts us in our work areas to get the best standards and understanding. This ensures we follow processes which improve reporting and data quality and detail as well as opportunities to learn and improve things for our passengers.

We have visited the customer service telephone centre to discuss expectations and difficulties. We have visited our opposite numbers in reporting in other companies to discuss approach and implementation. Sally has liaised with all affecting/affected departments where possible to improve processes and procedures.

Sally has managed our time, energy, workloads and responsibilities with great diary management and encouragement and knows whom to lean on to get the best outcome for the department.

Commendably, Sally also takes the time to nominate and praise others for work that is over and above, done with integrity and commitment.

Despite all of the crazy, she helps keep us sane.“
