Said the following about Peter Jones, Carla Watts and Clare Zubovic:

“With Bristol Temple Meads station undergoing a £multi-million renovation over the course of several years, Carla, Peter and Clare undertook a truly innovative project to improve the accessibility of the station during a time of significant change.

Navigating Bristol Temple Meads for blind and partially sighted people become more challenging since the start of Network Rail’s work to renovate the station’s historic train shed roof. Scaffolding towers have been erected in parts of the station and some areas have become one way only or temporarily closed for access.

To ensure Bristol Temple Meads remains as accessible as possible for all passengers, the trio worked with Bristol Sight Loss Council to create an audio guide of the station. It’s the first time that such a tool has been made available at any Network Rail managed station.

They did this very quietly, under the radar, very much off their own initiative and with dedication, enthusiasm and tenacity to this small but incredible project through to delivery!

Carla, Peter and Clare have shown that making our stations more accessible and providing a better customer experience for people with visual impairments isn't just about bricks and mortar. This unique and innovative audio guide is a brilliant example of how the industry can use technology - in this instance in the form of audio file and the internet - to make moving around one of our stations easier and a nicer experience for people with visual impairments. This wasn’t an expensive project - the biggest cost was the team’s time time to engage with the Bristol Sight Loss Council and create this audio map using technology that is already widely available.“
