Nominations for Graduate of the Year

Jeremy Gardner

Said the following about Paula Nunez:

“Paula Nunez is a graduate engineer that started her career with AECOM in 2016. Since joining the team in the Croydon office she has shown herself to be very effective, organised and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic. The comment made has been that she never lets the team down and her performance is outstanding.

Since starting as a graduate, Paula has worked on Access for All station improvement projects starting on initial feasibility studies. Since completing those, AECOM were awarded the next GRIP stags for these stations, based on her performance Paula has been given the lead designer role for three of these, successfully taking Seven Sisters Station to GRIP 2 and Selhurst and Crawley Stations to GRIP 3. She delivered this work under time and budget pressure and has received a perfect PRISM score of 5 for this work.

In the same year Paula has also contributed to the work AECOM are doing on the franchise proposals for Wales and Borders Railways, carrying out a variety of tasks. She has done great work on identifying utilities near proposed substations and preparing drawings on Microstation, on which she’s gaining good command. She has also taken on developing potential line speed improvements within the network, demonstrating her ability and willingness to tackle new challenges and develop her experience.

Paula is seen as a rising star of AECOM’s rail team in London and the Southeast, keen to make the most of opportunities presented to her to develop and grow as an engineer. She then delivers at a level beyond her seniority and experience.“
