Said the following about Opus CAFA Team:

“OPUS Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) Delivery Team

“I would like to nominate the Opus CAFA delivery team for “Rail Team of the Year 2015”. Working for Network Rail, the team has completed their first year of their Control Period 5 (CP5) allocation of structures. As a result of a focused and determined effort, the year 2 allocation has doubled and the team is now a 30+ strong global team. The framework entails delivering inspection and assessment work on bridge structures as well as other assets on the London North West and Wales route.

In Year 1, the team assessed 294 bridges/structures. All the assessments were completed on time and delivered within budget. The team has been able to deliver an excellent service because they understand the client’s needs. This has been accredited to having Opus staff embedded in Network Rail’s offices, hence, making this a truly collaborative partnership.

The team’s philosophy is about working smarter. The delivery is credited to efficient use of resources, programming, cost monitoring and maximising delivery outputs. Experienced teams were also utilised from the company’s Canadian and Australian offices.

All aspects of the team’s work; from the technical and engineering excellence applied to accurately assessing the structures, through to the site facing data collation. The team are often on site outside of normal working hours as well as being presented with the challenges which the UK weather brings!

The team benefits from strong leadership, with highly experienced engineers leading from the front, on site.

The team has been highly commended both by Network Rail and internally, within the company. Earlier this year, the team won a global staff award for strong customer service, innovation and dedication to excellent service delivery. David Prentice, Opus’ Chief Executive and Managing Director said; “We were extremely impressed by their collaborative approach across geographical boundaries and their understanding of the wide-ranging opportunities as a result of the project.”

This team epitomises the drive and determination required to achieve in the Rail industry. Together, they have demonstrated that with excellent communication, clear deliverables and clear deadlines, geographical boundaries can be overcome to become a truly efficient and effective global team.”“
