Said the following about Michael Turnbull:

“Michael Turnbull joined QTS in 2014 as a surveyor. Over the last few years, he has become an integral part of the QTS team. With the support of QTS, he took the decision to gain further educational qualifications and joined our modern apprenticeship scheme. From this, he successfully obtained a first-class honours degree in civil engineering.

He has quickly grown from a junior member of the team to the role of design manager, controlling the interface between QTS Group and our supply chain and clients. This is testament to his ability. He successfully manages a large portfolio of design works with the Geotechnical and Drainage frameworks in Scotland’s Railway.

In particular, he is always keen to apply and understand the effectiveness of introducing new technology within his projects. This has involved unique applications of drone technology, laser scanning and assisting with the development of innovative drilling rigs working in adverse environments.

Michael continues to be a leader and QTS Group ambassador for STEM events at local schools and colleges. He proactively seeks to pass on the knowledge from his own development to help others in the field of civil engineering. He continues to drive improvements in the sustainability of railway geotechnical projects, including taking the initiative to improve biodiversity of our railway projects from the outset of our designs. Michael continues to impress with his attitude, dedication, and drive to continually improve. He is a credit to his team and to our business.“
