Said the following about McGinley Support Services Apprenticeship Team:

“In September 2022 a new team was recruited to work as part of a fresh apprentice team within McGinley. The team quickly demonstrated a dedication and commitment to growing entry-level roles in the infrastructure industry with a particular focus on rail workforce labour.

Hitting the ground running in eleven months the team recruited 188 apprentices placing 124 into host employers in the rail network, tackling inevitable challenges that come with managing such a dynamic and impactful program in their stride. It also has to be said that the team have an unwavering dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion within the rail industry, which comes from the ‘top down’ approach instilled in the team's lead HR Director, Fiona Burke.

With 124 apprentices under their wing, the team takes a bespoke approach to apprenticeship management. Guiding apprentices through every stage of their journey, from initial resourcing and onboarding to comprehensive quality training, addressing any issues that arise, and providing remarkable pastoral care. This team understands that the success of apprentices goes hand-in-hand with the success of the rail industry itself.

Their tireless efforts have resulted in not only the largest number of apprentices being trained simultaneously for McGinley and at level 2 in the rail industry this year but in a remarkable increase in the number of workers from diverse backgrounds entering the industry, as evidenced by the impressive statistics they have achieved:

• Female representation stands proudly at 13%.

• Individuals from diverse backgrounds, including people of colour, constitute 47% of our apprentices.

• A remarkable 75% of our apprentices fall between the ages of 18-25.

• Our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community is evident with a representation of 5%.

• Disabled individuals are supported at 7%.

• Care leavers find a welcoming environment with 2%.

• Those with ex-refugee status have a place at 1%.

• Prison leavers receive a fresh start with 3%.

These statistics not only represent numbers but stand as a testament to the team's pursuit of an industry that truly reflects the society it serves.

In conclusion, the McGinley Apprenticeship Team is a shining example of a Recruitment & Talent Acquisition team that goes above and beyond to support its clients, staff and our industry. Their impact extends far beyond their immediate responsibilities to nurturing and developing the next generation of rail professionals and contributing to the sustainability and growth of the entire industry.“
