“Matthew is fairly new to the railway. However, due to his professionalism and quick ability to learn, he has led the ETCS testing on the Northern and City line. Working closely with Siemens and Network Rail.
Working long hours, nights, days and everything in between, testing has started successfully due to Matt's hard work and knowledge. His desire to break down barriers between stakeholders meant getting through tough safety assurance criteria to get testing started. As a team we have now tested ETCS on both Thameslink and Northern City Line with positive outcomes.
Collaboration has been a constant desire for Matt and he has built relationships with key stakeholders. Increasing their learning and understanding of GTR position and requirements - even assisting others with documentation creation. He shares training and information across boundaries that would normally not happen in the privatised railway.
His desire for successful outcomes for all has directly meant a hugely significant start to digital signalling on the East Coast Mainline. Without him it simply would not have happened in the way it has and he is an invaluable member of the wider East Coast Digital Programme team.
