Said the following about Mary Potter:

“Mary Potter is well known and well-liked by all. In truth Mary delivers on our promises as she naturally lives and breathes Merseyrail values; proactive, professional, inclusive and genuine.Mary is a Station Retailer at Old Hall Street Station on Merseyrail. She has previously also worked in the station management team and also as a Revenue Protection Inspector. Her daily role includes all aspects of ticket sales, customer engagement, retail duties in our Mtogo shop and customer enquiries. Mary began her railway career in 2004.

Mary is a genuine person and her outgoing, can-do, bubbly attitude and is infectious so she never fails to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Mary is always available and approachable with an open and honest no nonsense approach. She is well known and well-liked by all; customers and colleagues alike. Mary is a local lady, a typical scouser with a big heart and a real passion for the job that she does as she loves working for Merseyrail that that shows in her high standard of service delivery. With Mary what you see is what you get but she is always professional and genuinely likes our customers to be treated just how she would hope to be treated, you never have to ask Mary to do anything as she is very proactive in her approach and has high standards and a very good work ethic. She's a very inclusive person and is always the first to offer help and support to her colleagues and/or the management team as well as our customers.

Throughout her railway career Mary has shown she is not afraid of hard work and that she can deal with challenging situations, calmly and professionally. Last year due to personal reasons, Mary moved from her full time Assistant Station Manager post at our busiest Station, Liverpool Central to a part time Station retailer post at another Underground Station, Old Hall Street. She has fitted in very well there and as expected is very popular with her customers - many of which wait to be served by Mary, owing to the very friendly and informal, yet very professional way about her. Despite the move on a number of occasions Mary has been asked to help out at other stations and without hesitation she always agrees to support the business where necessary. We have asked her to come back to help us out at Liverpool Central for numerous major events etc and Mary always rises to the challenge. The staff and customers at Liverpool Central are always delighted to see her back. She doesn't hesitate to change her plans at short notice to help out and it doesn’t matter which station she is at, she always gives it her all. The Guards Managers working on the platforms at Liverpool Central in the evening peak are always happy to see her as she manages the platform so well, making clear and regular announcements over the platform communication system.

Drivers and guards have also commented how nice it is to see her friendly face around and regular customers say they are delighted to see her around again too. This is reflective of her engaging personality and also of the fact that she knows exactly what it takes to run an efficient service to the highest standard at our busiest Station.

No matter what role Mary is undertaking or what Station she is working at we can rest assure and trust in the fact that she will be doing the job to the best of her ability, always putting others first and rising to any challenge that comes her way.“
