“Mark joined the Track Design Group in April 2015, working as a Lead Track designer in Swindon.
He is currently working as an Area Lead on the Cross Rail 2 project, responsible for developing and integrating design across two of the most complex sites in the scheme, and working towards delivering the project’s Hybrid Bill submission.
Mark is an experienced track design engineer with fourteen years’ railway experience, including six years in the role of CRE (Track) and CEM. He has also chaired the industry’s design software steering forum, and delivered industry best practice switch and crossing library files via the Standard Design Catalogue.
I have had the privilege of working with Mark for over 2 years now and I am hugely impressed. He is a shining example of engineering excellence within our industry. His calm, friendly, approachable demeanour makes working with him a pleasure.
Mark has taken on a huge amount of responsibility since becoming a Principle Design Engineer, leading the way in technical expertise within our industry.
Mark is heavily involved with training and mentoring, he strongly encourages a culture of collaborative learning, which has benefited the team as a whole as we continuously improve.

“Hello, I'd just like to write a short note of thanks. I attended the RailStaff Awards on Thursday as part of a small team that was nominated, became a finalist and then we actually won our category!!! It was a fantastic experience to be selected & invited to this extremely well organised event. The entertainment was brilliant, the casino, waltzes & dodgems were such a fun idea and the music was so good, we danced our shoes off..!
