“I would like to nominate Lisa Smith as project manager of the year. Lisa led a small team of 4 individuals who have successfully mobilised a whole new concession - MTR Crossrail. She is very customer focused always ensuring she has the customer’s best interests in mind. What Lisa has delivered has not been done in Network Rail for some time, we’ve had franchise changes, but not new concession. She developed the plan and activities from scratch by talking to as many people as she could and gathering intelligence to build in to activities. Activities she then delivered. The staged opening a was a success. And there are 3 more stages to go.
Her team of 4 delivered a joint performance strategy, a joint safety strategy, commercial agreements, managed the integration of IT systems, prepared the stations for the new operator, briefed the control team, spent a night testing trains, assisted with introducing the new rolling stock; including statement of compatibility and managing the testing plan. Along with a lot more!
Lisa is focused on managing risk, she manages an enterprise risk for Network Rail on future performance of our timetable. In addition to this runs a risk log of more tactical risks and raises her concerns early and appropriately.
Lisa works collaboratively across 2 Network Rail routes, IP, MTR, RfL spanning approximately 118km including our capital. She ensures that there are shared activities, with owners and they deliver on time. She works hard at keeping people informed and providing briefing notes in advance for the Route MD's when they were going to meet MTR Crossrail to ensure they were up to speed with the latest position and what might come up in the discussion. Everything she does is well in advanced and is designed to prepare herself, her team or others to be successful.
She leads her team well, they all perform exceptionally well and enjoy working for her.
Her energy, drive, passion and ability are her trade mark. This coupled with her extensive railway knowledge has made her stand out on the Western Route as one of our top talents.“
