Said the following about Liam Chalk:

“I had the pleasure of working alongside Liam for a number of months whilst I was working at Basingstoke. There were many occasions where he was faced with nightmarish disruptions but the one that comes to the forefront was the Landslide at Hook.

We were both working on the shift when the landslide first occurred. I was working on the Suburban Desk and Liam had the dubious pleasure of working on the Outer Desk. The pressure that Liam was put under to attempt to keep some kind of service running was incredible but he went about his business in a cool, calm and collected fashion.

I can only imagine how he was feeling inside but on the outside he did not show and indication of being stressed or under pressure.

I know that as Train Service Managers we are trained and required to deal with disruption whenever it occurs but in this situation Liam was face d with an impossible task and I would like to take this opportunity to commend him for everything that he did.

Well done and thank you Liam“
