Nominations for Apprentice of the Year

Adam Allen

Said the following about Lewis Jenkins:

“Two years ago, Lewis was employed as an apprentice on an advanced level. Since joining the Signalling team in Swindon, Lewis has shown his aptitude to the role and his willingness to learn. Consequently the company has sponsored him on a day release course at the University of the West of England (UWE). He is currently studying on a Level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering.

In less than two years Lewis’ knowledge and experience has increased greatly. An example of this is his involvement on the Western Power Upgrade project. He began assisting in the signalling design of a power supply renewals project in the Exeter area. Through his enthusiasm and ability, he has gained the confidence and capability to now become the Signalling Lead for this project.

Whilst working on the power supply renewals project, he also acquired additional skills producing designs for Temporary and Emergency Speed Restrictions. Lewis quickly learnt the new skills required to produce the designs in the limited time allocated for these designs. Lewis has now assumed the role of Co-Ordinator for this project. The additional skills he has developed, which allow him to be succeed in this role, are interfacing with external clients, liaising with the Project Manager and organisation of the local team in Swindon and other colleagues in York and Glasgow.“
