Said the following about James Eustace:

“Being a Track engineer for Infrastructure Projects is no easy task, but being the Track engineer for IP Signalling on the £300 million Cardiff Area Signalling Renewals Project, locally known as CASR takes track engineering to a whole new level and leading this for us was our own James Eustace. Whilst the project hit its Finale over the 10 day Christmas – New year period and with an on time hand-back at 04:00 on 3rd January. James was out for long periods ensuring the track works, that included relaying the eastern approach of Cardiff Central with 1,250m of plain line and 74 timber bearers across seven point ends and bringing into use 10 new crossovers, were carried out to plan and integrated into the Signalling commissioning. As if that was not enough James helped ensure the team also opened Cardiff Central Platform 8 and southern entrance building with lift, staircase, waiting rooms and toilets, on time.

James works well with others and has built a good relationship with our track contractors and their staff and operatives. Having that relationship helps when things don’t go according to plan, making a calculated decision based on the engineering risk is something that James excels in.

James does seem to thrive on the pressure and intensity of the major works and is often found on site with measure in hand, ensuring that the controls and equipment are fully inspected and installed correctly. His determination, drive and knowledge has led to the team having confidence in his methodology and engineering understanding.

Having worked for IP Signalling for a few years now on this complex project his drive, passion and commitment have been clear to see and losing him to other projects is sad but James does have the potential to go even higher and achieve great things within our industry.

James has a great understanding of track and its usage and will be a standout engineer for Network Rail in years to come. He thoroughly deserves his nomination and opportunity for the spotlight to shine on his talent, hard work and determination in ensuring successful track installation and commissioning to the Programme.

And being so clever it was inevitable that his hard had wouldn't fit !!“
