Said the following about Helen Ashby:

“On the evening of the 10/07/2017 Helen Ashby was alerted to a passenger on Platform 5/6 at East Croydon Station who was having an Epileptic Seizure. Helen Ashby attended to the gentleman straight away, he was at this point face down on the platform. Helen allowed the gentleman to finish fitting. He started to turn purple and blue, it then became apparent that the passenger had stopped breathing. Helen used her initiative to place the gentleman into the recovery position because she became aware that the gentleman had choked on his own blood. The paramedics arrived a short while after and took over the care of the gentleman. The response from the paramedics was that if it wasn't for Helen's quick thinking to place the gentleman into the recovery position that the outcome of this dangerous situation could have been fatal.

I have great pleasure in nominating Helen for the Samaritans Lifesaver award, after all she saved this gentleman's life and really is East Croydon's Hero.“
