“Following a successful career in Network Rail, Gary joined KONUX in April 2022 and has since become a key member of the UK and wider team.
Utilising his 20 years of experience he drives improvements across every element of our capabilities. Gary is one of the quietest but most cognitive members of the team, already becoming one of our most respected and trusted employees
He is incredibly hard working and diligent. As his role covers all of the UK, he can be in Bristol one day and Newcastle the next - all of which is done without even a hint of complaint. In the past year, Gary has introduced the KONUX Switch system to over 500 staff in almost all Network Rail Routes, whether that is training them on installation, introducing them to our user interface or providing detailed insights to establish the root cause of degradation. He has rapidly developed into a trusted partner with our clients at Network Rail and is always on hand to provide guidance and support.
Gary is always willing and happy to share his knowledge and experience to support the development of others both within KONUX and across the wider industry. This was typified by the publication of his article in the PWI Magazine this year, “predictive maintenance to drive improvements in railway maintenance and management”.
Gary always applies a systems engineering approach to his work, considering how the measurements from both our systems and others can be used to drive asset reliability and communicating these clearly to our customers. He is extremely tenacious, ensuring that any insights derived from our system are properly understood by the maintainer and wider stakeholders.
Gary tackles difficult issues head on, working with our internal development teams and Network Rail Routes as well as the Technical Authority to develop joint solutions that ultimately will provide huge reliability improvements for the industry. His input to our KONUX Network product has taken an initial concept into a fully completed pilot in Network Rail — moving into production in 2024. This will enable maintainers to have a much greater understanding of the impact their decisions will have on the reliability, efficiency and ultimately performance of the railway network.
Working with Gary has made clear the difference it makes having an experienced track engineer on the team. He continuously shares his valuable expertise with our internal teams to make our individual products and projects significantly better. This includes our work with Network Rail in proving the value of the KONUX Network solution.

“Absolutely overjoyed to attend the Rail Media RailStaff awards last night. It was a wonderful event full of theatrics, great presentations and laughter. To top it off, of all the finalists, WR/RIA EDI Charter for Rail won Highly commended, alongside the fantastic Shane Andrews MBE in the HR, Diversity and Inclusion Person or team award! So so proud!! This working group truly is an inspirational space and being Vice-chair of such a dynamic group is an honour in itself.
