Said the following about Garry Clough:

“On 16 April 2015 Garry was made aware of a vulnerable female by North Yorkshire Police who was said to be roaming Scarborough and who they had concerns of.

Garry briefed the station staff and sometime later was alerted that someone matching that description was seen walking towards the end of Platform 1 at the station. Station staff contacted the signaller who stopped all services, as there was an incoming train from Liverpool. Garry made his way towards the female who had made an attempt to slash her wrists and was bleeding severely. She was intent on taking her life with the oncoming train.

Garry intervened and made the female safe and summoned medical help. Garry remained calm, professional and implemented what he had learned from the Network Rail / Samaritans workshop he had attend prior to this incident and ensured the female received the necessary medical treatment.“
