“All of the Depot Maintenance Teams have gone through a very difficult period throughout the past year. Throughout the Nottingham blockade they continued to provide an excellent service delivery to support East Midlands Trains in its award of Train Operator of the Year 2014 . Whether it be relocating to temporary maintenance/stabling facilities Service provision was foremost in their mindset.
They have recently begun a very large rescheduling of the Class 158 maintenance regime whereby the entire exam criteria has been interrogated to create a seamless process to achieve the maximum maintenance downtime. The net result is an upward trend in vehicle reliability.
The systematic process they now employ to carry out the exam regime is a seamless exercise that includes external contractors being allocated slots to carry out essential maintenance ie engines & Gearbox repairs.
The remaining teams now have taken the fleet of class 153's under their control and now are sharing best practice to achieve a similar seamless process to improve the reliability and availability of this fleet of traction.
I have recently taken the role of Depot Manager and seeing the passion and will to achieve the very best availability and reliability of the class 158 leads me to think that the Whole Maintenance team are worthy of such an award to recognize in the industry their achievements“
