In the last few months he has been tasked with mission impossible, however he is a unsung hero who has done wonders. He’s helped my station become updated and with the times digitally. He has tried to fix as many issues as humanly possible. He’s been bouncing back and forth looking after around 100 plus staff minimum which is a record. Nobody would argue he doesn’t love his job or take it home with him daily as his ever presence is highly notice. He deserves recognition for his work ethic and contribution, this is why I nominate him.“

He has a can do attitude and finds solutions to problems which have others have shied away, saying no can do.

“I have worked for the rail for 5 years and since the first day I started I have always been impressed with his work ethic in trying to make Hertford Loop the Best it can be. He always communicates to all members of staff about teamwork, working to together making sure we understand the tools we have at hand to give our customers who walk in out of the stations the best experience they can have and teaching us the importance of safety.
As a station manager he always shows many excellent qualities like going the extra mile in helping his staff. Example. Last week quite a lot of travellers had vacated the car park at one of stations. I called him to let him know about the situation, he could have easily said to me call the online manager, he did not and said he would catch the nest train to help and assist me in dealing with situation.
I could go on and on about Duncan regarding his dedication to his position and to all staff. He is always giving support and guidance and is always approachable. Duncan is a pleasure to work with and I know, and others really appreciate him and value him as our manager.
On a lighter note, Duncan sees himself as Gordon Ramsey and on many occasions, he has wowed staff with his culinarian skills.

“Duncan has been fantastic. Sized and printed my curation of Platform Poetry to encourage traveller wel being and poetry. To inspire travellers to use improved stations. He has taken ideas of structure and garden and accelerated the volunteers hopes which are fruiting now. Local people feel safer with a tended and inspiring art fest station e.g Gordin Hill.
We poets are grateful for the opportunity and his support to house such poems and placecthem along the Hertford Loop London bound platforms and waiting rooms.“
“Duncan is very approachable and knowledgably, always a phone call or an email away when needed and responds quickly. He is a 'hands on' manager who will very often be out and about alongside station staff assisting customers especially in times of disruption and major events such as concerts and football matches.
Duncan is also the Hertford Loop's chilli connoisseur often bringing in curries for the staff!“
